East of Scotland Kart ClubScottish KartingThe Northern Kart Federation headed north for Round 4 of the KZ2 Super 4 Championship, as nineteen drivers descended on the East of Scotland Kart Club in Crail.
Saturday brought glorious sunshine, allowing teams and drivers to fine-tune their setups ahead of race day. But Sunday morning delivered a very different challenge, with strong winds and threatening skies rolling in. A brief shower before Heat 1 left the track greasy, forcing all drivers onto wet tyres. From there, however, conditions improved and the remaining races were run in the dry.
The Final proved to be one of the most closely fought races of the day. A fierce battle for the podium saw Charlie Cole, his Jade Kart teammate and reigning KZ2 British Champion Oliver Stewart, and local favourite Reece Duthie of Neil Maclennan Racing, cross the line after 12 minutes of racing separated by just six tenths of a second.
Behind them, Jessica Edgar, F1 Academy winner, delivered a standout performance charging from P11 on the grid to finish just shy of the podium in P4. Jack Simpson completed the top five.
It was a fitting return to Scotland for Super 4, with strong support from the local KZ2 contingent and plenty of close racing on show. The championship now moves to Shenington Kart Track on 20/21 September for the penultimate round.
