58 drivers descended on the picturesque Little Ferry Circuit in Golspie to compete in the opening round of the Nothern Challenge, a two round challenge between North of Scotland Kart Club and Grampian Kart Club.
The weather remained dry across both days but cold with the mercury struggling to break into double figures. Sunday morning kicked off in good spirits with a drivers raffle comprising of a club membership from all 4 ASKC clubs, boxes of chocolates and 2-stroke oil donated by Mackay Motorsport.
Strong grids across all classes put on a good show of wheel-to-wheel racing, whilst tackling the challenge that the crests and banks provide.
Round 2 will take place at Boyndie Drome hosted by Grampian Kart Club over the weekend of October 10/11. Juniors compete on the 10 October and seniors the 11 October. All classes will have around 5 sessions of practice in the morning followed by 1 heat of timed qualifying, 2 grided heats and a final. Bambino class will have 4 time trials, final winner a combination of all scores. Full details on www.grampiankartclub.com. Entries open Wednesday 30 September.
